PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (HOSPITAL-BASED ORTHOPEDIC CONSULT)

Central Indiana Orthopedics is seeking applicants for a full-time Physician Assistant to work as part of its Orthopedic Consult program at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN.

Individuals in this role will practice medicine with the supervision of a licensed Orthopedic Surgeon based at primarily based at IUHBMH. This position is hospital-based working on orthopedic trauma cases. Individuals in this role will assist in surgery, make hospital rounds, see cases in the Emergency Department, and perform other duties needed to assist the Orthopedic Consult Surgeon.

Primary responsibilities for this individual include obtaining a complete medical history, performing physical examinations, and ordering tests as necessary. This position will evaluate and treat acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems in a clinical setting. Additionally, individuals in this role will collaborate with physicians to manage acute and long-term medical needs.

Graduation from an academic program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. One to two years professional experience as a Physician's Assistant preferred. Experience in orthopedics preferred. Certification through examination by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency required.

PRIMARY CLINICAL SPECIALIST (LPN or CMA)

Central Indiana Orthopedics is seeking applicants for a full-time Primary Clinical Specialist working with an orthopedic surgeon and nurse practitioner. The individual in this position will be primarily working in the Muncie office with the possibility of going to Portland on a limited basis.

Individuals in this role will provide care for clinic patients; assist in procedures as directed by physician or nurse practitioner; maintain and update patient records with a high level of accuracy and efficiency; complete patient paperwork, such as disability forms and surgery scheduling documentation, in a timely and efficient manner; answer and return calls to patients in a timely manner; and assist the physician with clinical and administrative duties.

Preferred candidates will have at least one to two years' experience in a clinical setting. Candidates must hold a current Indiana State LPN license or be a Certified Medical Assistant. Excellent communication and computer skills are required. Previous experience as a primary nurse is beneficial. Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

MRI TECHNOLOGIST (PRN)

Central Indiana Orthopedics is seeking applicants for a MRI Technologist working in a PRN (as needed) status at its Muncie and/or Anderson offices. Coverage used by this position will primarily be during the week so candidates must have some availability Monday through Friday.

The MRI Technologist will assist patients in feeling comfortable with and answering questions about the MRI procedure. This individual will perform basic MRI examination based on physician orders, position patients appropriately, and select proper machine settings to produce ordered images.

Candidates must be board certified by the AART in MRI and the Indiana State Board of Health. Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience as a MRI Technologist.

This position requires strong knowledge of MRI procedures, excellent customer service and patient care, and strong critical thinking skills. Successful individuals must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, along with the ability to adapt to various patient circumstances. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, strong computer skills, preferably working with electronic medical records.

INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN / PURCHASING COORDINATOR

Central Indiana Orthopedics Surgical Center is seeking applicants for a full-time Instrument Technician/Purchasing Coordinator position at its Muncie office.

Individuals in this role are responsible for assisting in a smooth flow of surgical cases by maintaining surgical instruments and equipment. This individual is responsible for preparing, assisting in operation of, and cleaning operating room instruments according to standardized procedures. This role also is responsible for purchasing materials and products for the surgery center.

Certification as a Certified Operating Room Technician is required. At least two years related experience required, preferably in the area of Orthopedics. One year of purchasing experience for a medical or surgical environment required. Additional appropriate operating room experience and purchasing experience may be substituted for education requirements.

Advanced knowledge of and experience with decontamination and sterilization policies and procedures required. Knowledge of and experience in assembling surgical instruments into standardized trays required. Understanding of surgical instruments and their uses during specific surgical procedures required. Excellent communication and computer skills are required. Knowledge of purchasing function including ordering, receiving, distribution, and storage required.

This individual also is responsible for maintaining and updating electronic patient records with a high degree of accuracy in a timely and efficient manner, including possibility scribing for the physician while in the exam room.

Candidates must hold a current Indiana State license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or be certified as a Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants. PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (SHOULDER/KNEE PRACTICE FOCUS)

Central Indiana Orthopedics has an employment opportunity for a Physician Assistant at its Muncie office.

The Physician Assistant will work directly with a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in injuries and disorders associated with the Shoulder and Knee. Under physician supervision, the Physician Assistant is responsible for surgical assistance, post-operative care, performing physical examinations in a clinic environment, obtaining patient histories, responding to patient questions and providing information to patients and their families.

The Physician Assistant also will have call rotation with the supervising physician as well as occasional hospital rounds and discharges for inpatient care.

Physician Assistant candidates must be licensed by the State of Indiana and possess certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Preferred candidates will have one or more years' experience in orthopedics. Additionally, Physician Assistant candidates must have proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment within their scope of practice, and have excellent communication skills.

Other duties may include staffing a same-day clinic, treating a variety of orthopedic and sports related injuries. The Nurse Practitioner will document and code all professional services.

Candidates must be eligible for a Nurse Practitioner's license in the state of Indiana. Preferred candidates will have one to two years' experience in an orthopedic setting.
