Sports Medicine

Dr. Scott Waterman is a Sports Medicine fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who sees patients at our Muncie office. He specializes in sports medicine and treats a wide range of shoulder and knee injuries, helping athletes and active individuals return to the activities they enjoy. Dr. Waterman is board-certified and holds a Sports Medicine Subspecialty Certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has been practicing at Central Indiana Orthopedics since 2015.

Dr. Waterman joined CIO after serving in the U.S. Army, where he had the honor of caring for fellow service members, including during a deployment to Afghanistan. His military background continues to influence his medical approach: team-focused, collaborative and centered on each patient’s personal goals.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, completed his orthopedic surgery residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center/Texas Tech Health Science Center El Paso and received advanced fellowship training in sports medicine at Keller Army Community Hospital in West Point, NY, and the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research in Texas.

Dr. Waterman has served as a team physician for the United States Military Academy at West Point, Ball State University, Killeen Independent School District and Yorktown High School. During his fellowship, he was involved in the care of professional athletes in baseball, football and hockey from the New York City and Los Angeles areas.
