Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology

Mako SmartRoboticsTM: robotic-arm assisted technology for total hip replacement and total/partial knee replacement procedures.

Central Indiana Orthopedics is proud of its leadership in providing state-of-the-art and personalized care to all of our patients. We were the first orthopedic practice in the region to utilize Mako technology. To date, we’ve helped over 2,500 patients get back to doing what they love with Mako-assisted surgeries.

Mako SmartRobotics™ is an innovative surgical solution for many suffering from painful arthritis of the knee or hip and enables our patients to have a more predictable experience when undergoing joint replacement surgery. Before surgery, Mako uses a 3D CT-based planning software so the surgeon can know more about a patient’s anatomy to create a personalized joint replacement surgical plan. During surgery, Mako’s AccuStop™ technology guides the surgeon to cut precisely what is planned to help protect the patient’s healthy bone. Together, this allows for the following patient benefits:

  • Less pain and a quicker recovery than traditional joint replacements.
  • Reduced risk of surgical complications.
  • Allows for precise placement of the implant enabling better post-surgical movement and flexibility.

The following Central Indiana Orthopedics surgeons perform Mako robotic-assisted total/partial knee and/or total hip replacements:

Mako-assisted hip or knee replacement surgery can be performed at Central Indiana Orthopedics Muncie Surgery Center, Central Indiana Orthopedics Fishers Surgery Center, Ascension St. Vincent Fishers Hospital or Ascension St. Vincent Anderson Hospital.

Care that goes with you after outpatient hip or knee replacement.

We take patient care very seriously. That’s why we have a dedicated Nurse Practitioner Patient Navigator, Natalie McClintick, readily available to assist our outpatient hip and knee replacement patients to ensure their post-surgical care is the best it can be.

Natalie is passionate about providing our patients with exceptional, personalized care. Patients receiving a hip or knee replacement at our Fishers or Muncie outpatient surgery centers will receive one-on-one joint education with Natalie prior to surgery to ensure the patient is comfortable and informed going into surgery. Upon discharge from the surgery center, post-op patients receive a wrist band with Natalie’s name and contact information. It’s important to Natalie that our patients feel they have that “one person” to contact with any questions or concerns during their recovery. With this service, our patients have a Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of orthopedic experience at their disposal 24/7.
